The trademark application is filed within 1 working day of receiving your documents — you can use the ™ symbol immediately after filing. Full registration with the ® symbol takes 18 to 24 months, subject to examination and any third-party opposition. The Trade Marks Registry sends an examination report, to which Idealize files a detailed response on your behalf.
For an individual: Aadhaar card or PAN card, logo/brand name artwork (JPEG/PNG, 8-bit colour), address proof. The international trademark system has 45 classes — Classes 1–34 cover goods and Classes 35–45 cover services. You must file in the class covering your products or services. For example: clothing = Class 25, software = Class 42, restaurant = Class 43, pharmaceuticals = Class 5. ™ (TM) can be used as soon as you file a trademark application — it signals that you are claiming ownership of the mark and the application is pending. ® (Registered) can only be used after your trademark is officially registered by the Trade Marks Registry of India.
